Watercolour Painting with Charlene Barry
This course is designed to encourage the student to paint loosely, construct a painting with free creative thinking yet at the same time use theories of colour, value and composition. Charlene will encourage students to express themselves in their own individual style. The object is to paint and have fun!
Winter Session 1: January 5 – February 9, 2012 (6 weeks)
Thursdays, 9am-12pm • Cost: $115
Brushes: 1 size 8 round 1 size 12 or 14 round 1 rigger 1 – 1 inch flat 1 – 2 inch flat wash brush Bring any other favorite brushes
Paper: 140 pound cold pressed paper (Arches)
Drawing Supplies: Small sketch book, 2B pencils, eraser
Other Equipment: Masking fluid, two ice cream containers for water, natual sponge, tooth brush, masking tape, board to mount paper (app. 24 X 30 inches), palette for paints with large mixing area, paper towel, sponge rag, reference photographs and colour wheel.
Paints: Preferably Winsor Newton, Holbein, Da Vinci or any other artist quality paints.
Colours: Lemon Yellow; Indian Yellow or New Gamboge; Burnt Sienna; Raw Sienna; Cerulean Blue; Cobalt Blue; French Ultramarine; Winsor Blue; Scarlet Lake; Alizarin Crimson; Permanent Rose or Rose Madder Genuin; Thioindigo Violet or Winsor Violet
Other optional colours you will find very exciting to work with: Hooker’s Green; Cadmium Red; Colbalt, Turquoise or Manganese Blue; Prussian Blue or Antwerp Blue; Brown Madder Sepia or Van Dyke Brown
