Wolf Tree Writers

May 26th 7-9PM, Frazee Gallery
The Saint John Arts Centre Presents the Wolf Tree Writers for an evening of Creativity that is all about Reading, Writing, Music and Fun!

Wolf Tree Writers and anyone else who would like to attend……
The Wolf Tree Writers is a Fredericton-based women's writing group with members from Fredericton, Nasonworth, New Maryland, Rusagonis, and Saint John. Current writers include: Shari Andrews, Virginia Bliss Bjerkelund, Mary Louise Luck, Kathy Mac, Janet Patch, Gail Taylor, and Jane Tims.
Other writers associated with Wolf Tree from time to time are Maureen Bilerman, Heather Browne, Jean Burgess, and Margaret MacQuarrie-McLeod.
Jeff Patch / Patchwork
Jeff Patch has been playing and writing music for many years, most recently as part of the duo "Patchwork" with Michel Boudreault. Their original music has been influenced by a broad range of folk, pop and rock artists. Jeff will be performing some original works composed by himself and his wife, Wolf Tree Writer Janet Patch.
Stand and Deliver Poetry Workshop
Stand and Deliver has been meeting since September 2009 on the campus of St. Thomas University. They've performed their own work and others', by invitation and in guerrilla fashion, at art openings, an academic conference, in cafeterias, and other public places. Members include (but are not limited to): Vicky Embree, Jeremy Fowler, Yasmin Glinton, Scarlett Kelly, Francis Kwan, Kathy Mac, Acey Outenbridge, Patrick Reilly, and Andrew Titus.
What:
A Wolf Tree is wild, with wide-spreading branches that reach for the sun. It often twists in directions where it has no business going; it's the wrong shape for the saw blade and the wrong species for the pulp mill, using up soil and sunlight that might be used for commercially viable trees.
But a Wolf Tree is a nurturer, home to wildlife like birds and squirrels, and its charm lies not only in its tenacity but in the originality of its shape.
Here’s how the evening will unfold:
- Wolf Tree Writers: collage reading
- Music by Jeff Patch
- Wolf Tree Writers individual readings
- Music by Jeff Patch
- Stand & Deliver Poetry Workshop reading
- Music by Jeff Patch
- Moderated open mic -- poets in audience invited to read (max 3 minutes, total 20 minutes)
