Access & Parking Tips

Changes in the Neighbourhood

During the construction of Peel Plaza and Justice Complex, there have been some changes in the streets around SJAC. Please see the map at left  for some helpful tips on access and parking in our neighbourhood.

Streets to Avoid

The red areas indicate areas closed to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic during construction (the area between SJAC and the Justice Complex, formerly Hazen Avenue, will become pedestrian access only).

Recommended Routes

The green arrows indicate approaches for vehicles and pedestrians – Carleton Street is the best way to access the Centre, as this is where our entrance is during construction (look for the yellow door with the large ‘Entrance’ sign above). Visitors parking in the Chipman Hill Parking Garage can take a ‘shortcut’ halfway down Wellington Row at the Fundy Engineering parking lot, where this is a wide pedestrian pass-through. A reminder: the south end of Dorchester street is now designated two-way.

Parking

SJAC has several parking spaces near the Carleton Street entrance, but parking is very limited. During peak uptown business hours and the Centre’s time for popular daytime workshops, we recommend trying Carleton St., Wellington Row and the Chipman Hill Parking Garage. This would be a great time to go green and carpool with friends! For our evening workshops & events after 6pm and on weekends, parking Uptown is free and ample, including the gravel parking area on the corner of Carleton and Peel Streets.
