Learn about one the Italian Baroque’s most (in)famous painters – the swashbuckling, sword-wielding and yes, murderous! Caravaggio. Learn how and why he changed the course of Western painting, galvanized a legion of followers and still after four hundred years makes for a blockbuster art exhibition. This session looks at Caravaggio’s early work in Rome and his later work, post-exile, in Naples, exploring his radical use of naturalism, chiaroscuro, and theatricality.

No prior knowledge on Caravaggio and/or sword dueling required.

Summer Art with Alison: For Kids 5-8 Years

Art with Alison empowers kids to develop creative skills. We will be using paint, paper, clay, writing, drawing, sketching and bookmaking to find ways to talk about what we see and what is important to us. Alison uses reality therapy techniques to guide the kids through lively reflections and explorations. At the end of each session, students will have a portfolio of drawings and paintings, in addition to functional and sculptural ceramic pieces. No experience necessary. Space is limited, so register today!

One week sessions, Monday-Friday, 10am-12pm

‘SPaRT’ Camp: For Kids 9-12 Years - Sport • Participation • Art • Recreation • Together!

This fun-filled week of art and recreation is designed to encourage your child’s creativity and activity through visual art instruction, swimming at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre and visits to the library and museum. Enriching art skills will be developed through painting and drawing with a professional art instructor in this fun day camp.
